Why does Quooker offer a Disinfection kit for the CUBE?

German guidelines requests from cold drinking-water appliances to offer a Disinfection option.
If a customer has any doubt about his system, he can request a Disinfection kit.

What is the standard cleaning interval / procedure of a CUBE system?

The CUBE does not require standard cleaning during regular use. However, if the CUBE is not used for an extended period, rinsing both cold and sparkling water for 5 minutes is sufficient.

When can this kit be used?

In the event of drinking water being contaminated with potentially harmful bacteria, the disinfection kit can be used. If the customer has a filter installed in front of the CUBE 2, it is advised to also replace the filter.

Why isn't there a disinfection kit for the CUBE 1, but only for the CUBE 2? 

The CUBE 1 was not able to run a new automatic disinfection protocol. Furthermore this product is not being produced anymore by Quooker, and therefore the Disinfection kit is not developed for this appliance. Protocol is: replacing the HF filter and rinsing both cold and sparkling water for 5 minutes.

What should I do in case I wish to rinse my CUBE 1?

Quooker advises to replace the HF filter and rinse both cold and sparkling water for 5 minutes.

How long does the disinfection program take?

The disinfection program will take 45 minutes.

How much water is used during disinfection?

During the disinfection program, 35 liter water is used.

How much CO2 is used during disinfection?

The disinfection will use 0,78 grams of CO2.

What disinfection material is used?

The Disinfection kit includes 2 custom-made Quooker Disinfection tablets.
During the Disinfection process one uses 1 tablet.
The tablet is made of a specific chlorine compound, for cleaning the CUBE.

Does consumer need to remove the Disinfection kit when finished?

The customer can leave the disinfection kit in place once the disinfection program is finished.

Is there a manual available to remove the Disinfection kit?

Yes. Please contact the Quooker Service department and request the Disinfection kit de-installation manual.

Customer cannot find disinfection program in CUBE settings, what to do?

Please contact the Quooker Service department and request the Update Device. With the Update Device, you can install the latest software version, including the Disinfection protocol. After the update, you will need to re-confirm your country selection, choosing between Germany & Austria.

Customer his disinfection tablets run out. Is there a refill kit available?

You can order the refill kit via our service department. The article number for the refill kit is 31.422.00 Service set CUBE Disinfection tablets.

Do I need to replace my filter (if installed) when disinfect the CUBE?

The disinfection module, including the disinfection tablet, should be installed after the filter, and therefore, replacement of the filter is not necessary. However, once it is known that the drinking water from the water main is contaminated with potential harmful bacteria, it is advised to also replace the filter.

On which elements of the W516 does the Quooker Disinfection kit comply?

December 2024: The CUBE disinfection set has been tested by the Water Technology Centre (TZW) in accordance with worksheet W516 of the German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water (DVGW), section 4.2.2.3 and has passed the hygiene test.
